Angulo wins Aragonés approval

Miguel Ángel Angulo and Pablo Ibáñez could win their first caps for Spain against England next week.

By Andy Hall

Angulo promoted
The 27-year-old Angulo won a UEFA European Under-18 Championship with Spain, but this is his first call-up to the senior side. "We want to try out various players on the right wing, where we have seen Víctor [Sánchez], Joaquín [Sánchez] and [Joseba] Etxeberria. Right now, Angulo is in great shape and he can give us an extra edge on either flank."

Pablo on a roll
Pablo could also win a first cap. The 23-year-old Atlético man was named in the squad for last month's FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Belgium and Lithuania but did not play.

Valencia trio
However, there are no places for the Valencia trio of David Albelda, Rubén Baraja and Vicente Rodríguez. Albelda and Vicente are sidelined by their respective hamstring and ankle injuries, while Baraja is left out for tactical reasons. Other omissions are Juan Carlos Valerón and Francisco Yeste. In come Guti and Iván Helguera of Real Madrid CF who could link up with FC Barcelona's Xavi Hernández in midfield.
