EURO 2024 GmbH officially certified as an equal salary employer

Ensuring that policies and procedures related to compensation and Human Resources procedures are equal across the workforce, EURO 2024 GmbH has completed and passed the equal salary certification process.

As a part of the actions planned in relation to the UEFA EURO 2024 ESG strategy, we are excited to announce that EURO 2024 GmbH has been certified as an equal salary employer following an audit conducted by independent auditor Mazars under the process and official methodology of the Equal Salary Foundation.

EURO 2024 GmbH is a joint venture between the German Football Association (DFB) and UEFA to organise the UEFA EURO 2024 final tournament in Germany.

In late 2021, UEFA became the first sports organisation to obtain equal salary certification, an achievement in line with the targets of the UEFA Football Sustainability Strategy 2030 Strength through Unity.

The process leading to equal salary certification includes a review of employee compensation, which is done through a comprehensive salary analysis. If the organisation passes this analysis, based on set certification criteria, the process then continues with a review of HR procedures, the values and culture regarding equal pay for equal work, and employees’ perceptions.

This certification formally recognises EURO 2024 GmbH’s commitment to fostering a fair and inclusive environment. The organisation has actively worked towards its goal of promoting equality within its workplace throughout the preparations for the upcoming final tournament, which kicks off on Friday 14 June.

“Diversity and inclusion are of the utmost importance for us as an employer and a key pillar of our sustainability strategy. Receiving the equal pay certification is a great achievement in our consistent efforts to ensure an inclusive workplace with equal opportunities for all. These efforts started during the bidding process and continue during our final steps towards UEFA EURO 2024. With currently 41 different nationalities and a gender split of 57% men and 43% women, we are on the right path.”

Markus Stenger, EURO 2024 GmbH managing director

"As an ambassador for UEFA EURO 2024 and vice president for equality and diversity, I am passionate about equal opportunities. Football is a driving force for this – it doesn't matter where you come from, what gender you are or what religion you belong to. Ensuring equality is a necessity for me. I am therefore delighted that we are ensuring equal salaries at EURO 2024 GmbH. Every employee deserves the same opportunities and the same appreciation for their work.”

Celia Šašić, UEFA EURO 2024 tournament ambassador

"Congratulations to EURO 2024 GmbH on achieving the equal salary certification! This landmark accomplishment underscores your commitment to equal pay and equal opportunities for all staff, setting a powerful precedent for inclusivity and fairness for one of Europe's premier sporting events. Your dedication to equality enriches the tournament and inspires the global sports community to champion workplace equity and follow your example.”
