Who is Serbia coach?

Once a captain of Yugoslavia as a player, Dragan Stojković began his coaching career in Asia, taking charge of Japanese side Nagoya Grampus between 2008 and 2013 and Chinese team Guangzhou R&F from 2015 and 2020. He returned to Europe in 2021 to take the Serbia job, and guided them to the 2022 World Cup, where they finished bottom of their group. A relatively smooth qualification campaign means hopes are high for progression to at least the knockout phase of this EURO finals.

Serbia key player: Aleksandar Mitrović

'Mitrogol' has had a great season with Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia. The powerful striker from Smederevo is Serbia's all-time top international scorer and something of a national hero for his persistence, ability to score from near-impossible situations and will to fight until the end. Don't be surprised if you hear supporters singing the “Mitro's on fire” song in Germany.

Serbia one to watch: Strahinja Pavlović

Serbia have good forwards and great goalkeepers, but 23-year-old defender Pavlović can go under the radar. A tireless worker who has been making a name for himself with Salzburg in the Champions League, he made his Serbia debut in 2020 and comes into the finals with over 30 caps. Impressive at the 2022 World Cup; he may be even better in Germany.

How did Serbia qualify for EURO 2024?

Group G runners-up: P8 W4 D2 L2 F15 A9
Serbia are back at the EURO finals for the first time since 2000 thanks to a 2-2 draw at home to Bulgaria on Matchday 10. With an impressive squad containing the likes of Dušan Vlahović from Juventus, Fenerbahçe's Dušan Tadić and AC Milan forward Luka Jović, Serbia will have high hopes of making an impression at the tournament.
