Who is Romania coach?

Edward Iordănescu has earned a reputation as a highly studious coach and won three trophies while in charge of CFR Cluj from December 2020 to June 2021. He was appointed Romanaia coach in January 2022 and guided them to their fifth EURO finals after they missed out on EURO 2020, his team remaining unbeaten throughout their Group I campaign.

Romania key player: Nicolae Stanciu

Stanciu is Romania's captain and one of just two players in the current squad with previous experience of a major international tournament. The 31-year-old is considered the talisman of the team and has the ability to be a real difference maker. Hugely popular among his team-mates, he will endeavour to lead his side through these finals with courage and confidence.

Romania one to watch: Radu Drăgușin

Drăgușin is Romania's leading light, having joined English Premier League club Tottenham in January. A totemic figure at the back despite being one of the younger players in the set-up, the 22-year-old is one of the country’s surest hopes of boasting a long-term superstar; EURO 2024 presents the ideal platform.

How did Romania qualify for EURO 2024?

After failing to qualify for the last edition of the tournament, Romania secured their place at EURO 2024 with a win against Israel in Hungary. They will be hoping to repeat their heroics of EURO 2000, where they progressed from a group containing Portugal, England and Germany before being knocked out by Italy in the quarter-finals.
