🌱 Sustainability

Leipzig wants to shrink – its waste output! The city is working on a ‘Zero Waste’-strategy, which is why the Fan Zone only serves drinks in reusable cups, for example. Container materials for food are also being minimised to prevent plastic waste. Leipzig’s city cleaning department has also started the “Allerlei to go” initiative, lobbying for reusable containers in Leipzig’s gastronomy.

Carbon Footprint

For the first time in its history, Leipzig is monitoring its CO2-emission for an event of this size, aiming to take responsibility for the produced amount of CO2. This includes all use of electricity and water in the Fan Zone, waste amounts and mobility flows. Catering for fans, volunteers and artists, as well as the acquisition of posters and banners, contributes as well.

Drinking water fountains

Fan Zone Augustusplatz offers two drinking water fountains. Fill your cup or bottle for free, or just use your cupped hands! You’ll find 23 additional fountains throughout the city using this map:
