What is it?
The UEFA Carbon Footprint Calculator is an online tool to help anyone involved in football calculate, understand and therefore act on their emissions related to the game.
The tool has been designed to highlight emissions in football-specific domains. This includes the areas of mobility, facilities, purchased goods and services, as well as logistics, all within the context of our sport.
To help users get started we have produced a user guide and a selection of tutorial videos.
How was it developed?
Based on the greenhouse gas protocol, validated by a third party, and piloted by several football organisations in its development phase, the calculator has been designed to support all endeavours to manage and reduce carbon emissions in a simplified and cost-effective way. This investment in a collective approach will improve consistency, provide clarity of reported information and support efforts toward comparability over time.
To help users get started we have produced a user guide and a selection of tutorial videos.
Background
UEFA acknowledges the environment's fragility and our responsibility to minimise our impact, and the impact of European football. Climate and advocacy is a crucial element of the UEFA Strength Through Unity sustainability strategy, and through it we commit to actively supporting member associations and the European football community in becoming drivers of change, not passive observers.
It is our duty to assist clubs, leagues and associations in driving this change by providing the tools and guidance they need as every effort plays a part in the collective impact we aim to achieve.
Our ambition is to show the world that football can be part of the solution in the collective drive towards reducing carbon emissions. By developing the UEFA Carbon Footprint Calculator, we want to be catalysts on the drive to reduction in football, zooming in on the importance of measurement as a key strategic step.

That is why we have made a significant and long-term investment in the creation of the UEFA Carbon Footprint Calculator, available to all football stakeholders as their first step on the road to reduction.
Along the way, we want to demonstrate to governments, investors, fans and commercial partners that football is tackling this challenge in a unified and strategic manner. We encourage all actors in the football ecosystem to embark on this strategic journey, and stand ready to support organisations in their efforts.
