Form guide

Eintracht Frankfurt

Record vs English clubs: W5 D6 L5 F15 A20
Home record vs English clubs: W3 D4 L1

Frankfurt's last three games against a team from England have all involved Tottenham, the first leg of this tie and their Champions League games in 2022. The goalless draw in Germany ended a three-game winning streak, a run that includes knocking West Ham out of the Europa League semi-finals in 2021/22 (2-1 a, 1-0 h) on their way to lifting the trophy.

Frankfurt had lost their previous four two-legged ties against English opponents, including a 3-4 penalty shoot-out defeat against Chelsea in the 2018/19 Europa League semi-finals.

Die Adler finished fifth in the league phase (W5 D1 L2), leading them to a round of 16 encounter against Ajax; a 2-1 win in Amsterdam was followed by a 4-1 home victory in which Mario Götze scored twice.

This is Frankfurt's seventh UEFA Cup/Europa League quarter-final, equalling Leverkusen's German record; they have won three and lost three. They have been victorious in each of their last two appearances, most recently in 2021/22 when they recorded a 4-3 aggregate victory against Barcelona (1-1 h, 3-2 a). Their other success came on away goals against Benfica in 2018/19 (2-4 a, 2-0 h).

Frankfurt have progressed from six of their nine UEFA competition ties when they have drawn the first leg away from home and have gone through on all three previous occasions they have drawn 1-1.

However, last season they were eliminated by Union Saint-Gilloise in the UEFA Conference League knockout play-off following a 2-2 first-leg away draw, losing 1-2 at home.

Dino Toppmöller's side have lost only two of their last 24 Europa League matches (W14 D8) and have won each of their last four home games in the competition.

Frankfurt's only goalless draw in their last 64 European matches came against Spurs in the 2022/23 Champions League group stage.

Hugo Ekitiké has now been directly involved in seven goals in 11 Europa League appearances this season (four goals, three assists).

Eintracht's record in three UEFA penalty shoot-outs is W1 L2:
4-5 v Salzburg, 1993/94 UEFA Cup quarter-final
3-4 v Chelsea, 2018/19 Europa League semi-final
5-4 v Rangers, 2021/22 Europa League final

Tottenham Hotspur

Record vs German clubs: W15 D5 L12 F43 A49
Away record vs German clubs: W6 D3 L8

Tottenham were 3-2 winners at Hoffenheim on Matchday 7 this season.

Spurs have lost three of their last four UEFA competition two-legged ties against German teams, the exception a 2018/19 UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie against Borussia Dortmund they won 4-0 on aggregate (3-0 h, 1-0 a).

They have lost only three of their last ten European away matches against German teams (W4 D3).

Tottenham are back in European competition this season after missing out in 2023/24. They finished fourth in the league phase (W5 D2 L1) to qualify directly to the last 16, where they were drawn against AZ Alkmaar.

A 1-0 first-leg defeat in Alkmaar left Ange Postecoglou's side with work to do at home, but a 3-1 victory secured safe passage to Spurs' first appearance in a UEFA quarter-final for six years.

This is Tottenham's eighth UEFA Cup/Europa League quarter-final, equalling Liverpool's English record. They have lost their last three ties having won their first four, their last success at this stage a 4-2 aggregate defeat of Austria Wien in 1983/84 on their way to winning the competition.

Tottenham have lost all five previous UEFA competition ties when they have drawn the first leg at home. Most recently, they went down 3-1 on aggregate to Fiorentina in the 2014/15 Europa League round of 32, losing 2-0 in Italy following a 1-1 draw at White Hart Lane.

The Lilywhites have lost only two of their last 12 UEFA competition matches (W6 D4), although away from home their record is three victories in their last 14 (D3 L8).

Spurs have scored more goals (336) than any other team in UEFA Cup/Europa League history.

Son Heung-min made his 67th European appearance for Tottenham in the first leg, taking him level with record holder Harry Kane.

Tottenham's record in three UEFA penalty shoot-outs is W1 L2:
4-3 v Anderlecht, 1983/84 UEFA Cup final
5-6 v PSV Eindhoven, 2007/08 UEFA Cup round of 16
