Russia coach Igor Shalimov has lost a second defender, Maria Dyachkova, from his UEFA WOMEN'S EURO 2009™ squad just days after the withdrawal of Elena Suslova.
Request to UEFA
Zvezda-2005's Suslova was replaced by Natalia Pertseva when the official squad was submitted to UEFA on Friday, and Shalimov is now hoping to call up another WFC Rossiyanka player, Nadezhda Myskiv, if permission is granted by European football's governing body. In the case of a serious injury prior to a team's first match of the tournament – in Russia's case against Sweden in Turku on Tuesday week – and after examination by a UEFA doctor, it is possible to replace an injured player. "Suslova and Dyachkova will miss EURO due to injuries," Shalimov told uefa.com. "That's why we have decided to try and add Rossiyanka defender Nadezhda Myskiv to our squad."
