Lekić sticks with tested Slovenia talents

Slovenia coach Tanja Lekić has named a familiar squad for their UEFA WOMEN'S EURO 2009™ play-off with Ukraine on 26 and 30 October as they seek to emulate the achievement of their men's team nine years ago.

UEFA EURO 2000™ inspiration
A tally of 12 Group 3 points, including a victory against Iceland, gave Slovenia a play-off place as one of the four best third-placed teams, having been seeded fifth in their five-team pool before qualification. ŽNK Krka and ŽNK Pomurje provide the core of the team that will aim to get Slovenia to their first women's finals tournament, along with Italy-based defenders Snežana Malešević and Anja Milenković. The first leg is at home in Dravograd, followed by a trip to Chernigov, and Slovenia will aim to emulate the achievements of the men's team that defeated Ukraine over two legs to qualify for UEFA EURO 2000™.
