Sweden midfielder Sofia Jakobsson is looking forward to a tilt at the UEFA Women's Champions League this term after joining Russian side FC Rossiyanka on a one-year contract.

The 21-year-old leaves Umeå IK as her team's top scorer in the Swedish league so far this season with eight goals. "I really wanted to take this chance," said Jakobsson, who helped Sweden finish third at the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup. "My motivation was to play Champions League football this autumn."

Rossiyanka will tackle FC Twente in the round of 32, contesting the first leg in the Netherlands on 28 September before the decider in Krasnoarmeysk on 6 October. They also look in good shape to qualify next season as they are currently five points clear at the top in Russia.
