Spain march past Bosnia and Herzegovina in style

Holders Spain maintained their perfect form in UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying Group 4, as they saw off Bosnia and Herzegovina in emphatic style to close in on a play-off place.

Despite suffering an early scare as Sanjin Prcić put the hosts ahead, Julen Lopetegui's side pulled themselves six points clear in the section with a powerful response. After Tomislav Barišić's own goal, Óliver Torres's double was supplemented by Álvaro Morata and Gerard Deulofeu penalties, while Iker Muniain also registered to leave daylight between Spain and second-placed Austria with three games to play.

In a frantic start Muniain hit the post but it was Vlado Jagodić's men who went ahead in the 15th minute as Goran Zakarić burst down the centre and slipped Prcić into the area, allowing the midfielder to drill into the net. As ever Spain controlled possession, and were rewarded on 33 minutes as Deulofeu's cross from the right deflected past Kristijan Jajalo via the body of Barišić. That unfortunate intervention opened the floodgates as Torres put Spain ahead from five metres before Dino Bevab brought down Deulofeu in the box allowing Morata to score his eighth in qualifying from the spot before the interval.

Everton FC man Deulofeu struck the post after the restart before providing the assist for Muniain to make it 4-1, and Sergi Roberto set up Torres for the midfielder's second on 65 minutes. Deulofeu rounded off the scoring with the goal his performance deserved, firing in a spot kick after Adnan Kovačević had brought down Morata.
