Holders Germany are in the third tier of seeds while Spain top the rankings in Pot A for the UEFA European Under-19 Championship elite round draw, streamed live from Nyon at 11.20CET on 3 December.
Spain were given a bye through the qualifying round, in which 27 sides advanced from 13 mini-tournaments – including Germany, who beat Portugal in the 2014 final in Budapest. Also involved are Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denmark, Montenengro and Sweden, all hoping to qualify for the first time.
Elite round draw procedure
There are four seeding pots according to the coefficient ranking list, with the seven countries with the highest coefficient in Pot A (Spain and the six sides who won their three qualifying round games with the best goal difference/goals scored), the next seven in Pot B, and so on. No team can play opponents they met in the qualifying round. Each group will comprise one side from each pot, with hosts then appointed to hold the mini-tournaments to be completed by 3 June.
Pot A: Spain, England, Russia*, Italy, Netherlands, Slovakia, Montenegro
Pot B: Austria, Portugal, Switzerland, Ukraine*, France, Sweden, Republic of Ireland
Pot C: Croatia, Germany (holders), Poland, Denmark, Belgium, Serbia, Georgia
Pot D: Czech Republic, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Turkey, Norway, Lithuania, Azerbaijan, Scotland
Bye to the finals: Greece (hosts)
*Due to a decision of the UEFA Emergency Committee, Russia cannot be placed in a group with Ukraine.
• The seven group winners qualify to join hosts Greece in the finals from 6–19 July 2015.
