Former UEFA European Under-17 Championship winners Spain and Russia will be in the same qualfiying round group for the 2010/11 edition after the draw was made in Nyon.
Road to Serbia
Fifty-two sides are competing for seven slots alongside hosts Serbia in next season's final tournament, and have been split into 13 groups of four for the first stage, played next autumn. The top two from each section will progress to the Elite round along with the two third-placed sides with the best record against the leading pair in their section.
Germany awards
During the draw ceremony, Germany were presented with the Maurice Burlaz Trophy marking their achievements as the nation with the best results in UEFA youth competition over the last two years, including taking the 2008/09 U17 title. The chairman of the UEFA Youth and Amateur Football Committee, Grigoriy Surkis, presented the trophy, named after the former vice-chairman of the committee, to the German Football Association technical director Mattias Sammer and vice-president Dr Hans-Dieter Drewitz. In addition, the captain of Germany's victorious U17 squad, Reinhold Yabo, received the 2008/09 Fair Play Trophy on behalf of his team and assisted in the draw.
