Czech Republic and Hagi's Romania progress

The Czech Republic won two out of two to head UEFA European Under-17 Championship qualifying round Group 12, with Romania joining them in the elite round after pipping Denmark to runners-up spot.

• The Czechs opened with a deserved 2-1 victory over Romania, Petr Plachý breaking the deadlock on 11 minutes from 35 metres.
• Romania's best two players, Ianis Hagi – 15-year-old son of Gheorghe – and Vlad Mihalcea, combined for the equaliser.
• Michal Sadílek won it early in the second half with a free-kick from the left that caught out keeper Cosmin Dur-Bozoancă.
• Hosts Andorra defended hard but lost 3-1 to Denmark thanks to a hat-trick from Mark Brink, who missed a late penalty for what would have been his second spot-kick goal.

Romania have a good team, they played so well defensively, but we had more chances to score and tried to keep attacking. We were lucky with the second goal, but the score is deserved.

Andorra have a great goalkeeper and caused us great difficulties. But we played patiently and we could have scored more goals than three. But I am happy with the start.

• Two days later Romania hit top form as they cruised past Denmark 6-1 with a first-half treble from Florinel Coman, who was rested after the interval.
• The Czech Republic moved three points clear but were given a tough game in overcoming Andorra 1-0.
• It was level at half-time but Matěj Chaluš turned in a corner to clinch the points.

We had a lot of chances but Andorra played perfectly in defence, with a clear plan. But the 1-0 is enough to claim three very important points to get through to the next round.

• The Czech Republic took first place by edging Denmark 1-0, Daniel Turyna finding the target with a fine cross-shot.
• Denmark struggled to have possession and the Czechs confirmed their position as the group's dominant team.
• Florinel Coman converted a 51st-minute penalty to give Romania a 1-0 win against Andorra and second spot.
• An ill Hagi was missing and chances were relatively few for Romania, coached by Raducioiu for the last time.
• Denmark must wait to see if they are one of the five third-placed teams with the best record against the top pair in their section across the 13 groups.

We had no ideas with the ball, no intensity and no ideas to generate big chances. Andorra fought for every ball like it was the last one, but I'm happy because we won my last match as the national U17 coach and reached the next round.
