Dominic Solanke has ended the 2014/15 UEFA Youth League as the tournament's 12-goal top scorer.
The Chelsea FC forward's tally is one greater than what FC Barcelona's Munir El Haddadi achieved in the inaugural competition last season, when he memorably found the net from the halfway line in the final against SL Benfica.
Going into this campaign's semi-finals level on nine goals with RSC Anderlecht's Aaron Leya Iseka, Solanke was on target twice in the Blues' 4-0 thrashing of AS Roma on Friday. That ensured he would be the leading marksman no matter what happened in today's decider, closest challenger Leya Iseka having headed home after failing to add to his total in Anderlecht's 3-1 loss to FC Shakhtar Donetsk.
Solanke, 17, made it a dozen strikes for the season with Chelsea's second goal in their 3-2 final defeat of Shakhtar, whose highest scorer ahead of the Colovray Sports Centre encounter had been Vasyl Shtander on four. Eleven months ago Solanke also shared the scorers' accolade with the Netherlands' Jari Schuurman during England's victorious UEFA European Under-17 Championship campaign in Malta.
