Substitute Sergio Floccari hit two goals in as many minutes for SS Lazio as they whipped the rug out from under Trabzonspor AŞ in UEFA Europa League Group J.
Trailing 3-1 with six minutes left, the visitors looked destined for defeat, but Floccari beat Onur Kıvrak with a header and a cool finish in the space of two minutes to rescue a share of the points amid incessant rain on the shores of the Black Sea. The result leaves the sides level on four points at the top of the section.
A quick break spurred Trabzonspor to take the lead on 12 minutes, Paulo Henrique feeding Yusuf Erdoğan, who sped in to angle a neat shot across Federico Marchetti. Adrian Mierzejewski then sparkled in the rain soon afterwards, showing splendid poise to send a loose ball from outside the box dipping under the Lazio goalkeeper's crossbar.
Lazio gained a footing in the match when Brayan Perea's ball invited Ogenyi Onazi to dart into the box and clip past the onrushing Onur. Hernanes subsequently struck the outside of a Trabzonspor post, but Paulo Henrique made it 3-1 ten minutes before the interval, spinning into the box to collect Mierzejewski's pass before beating Marchetti with a firm shot.
That left Lazio with everything to do after the break, but they showed no lack of willing, Hernanes, Felipe Anderson and Lorik Cana all testing Onur. Alanzinho fluffed a chance to kill off the game for Trabzonspor, firing straight at Marchetti with the goal gaping, and that was to prove costly as Floccari first got on the end of a Keita Baldé corner to make it 3-2 before exchanging passes with Paulo Henrique and equalising.
