Milan Baroš's involvement in Galatasaray AŞ's UEFA Europa League round of 32 tie against Club Atlético de Madrid next month is in doubt after the striker underwent a second operation on the broken foot he suffered on 25 October.
Derby disappointment
The 28-year-old Czech international broke the second and third metatarsal bones in his left foot in a challenge with Fenerbahçe SK midfielder Emre Belözoğlu during the Istanbul derby, which Frank Rijkaard's team lost 3-1. Last season's 20-goal Süper Lig top scorer had surgery shortly after and was initially expected to be sidelined for at least two months, but opted for another operation in Germany this week in order to ensure there was no prospect of the injury flaring up again.
Strike rate
Baroš, who had scored five goals in ten league appearances prior to being sidelined, is expected to begin full training in a month. The first leg of Galatasaray's UEFA Europa League tie takes place at the Vicente Calderón on 18 February, five days before the return in Istanbul.
