Hamburger SV have given teenage forward Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting a new long-term contract, tying him to the Bundesliga club until the summer of 2011.
'Continued development'
The 18-year-old has received the vote of confidence on the back of his ten Bundesliga appearances this season – all as a substitute. "My time at Hamburg has been fantastic. I honestly believe I will continue my development here," said the German Under-19 international, who started for the first time in Wednesday's 3-0 German Cup win at SC Rot-Weiss Essen. "It's good to see a young player make the breakthrough with us," said Hamburg sporting director Dietmar Beiersdorfer. Choupo-Moting has also featured four times in the UEFA Cup this term, scoring against Stade Rennais FC. Hamburg, third in the Bundesliga, will face Swiss champions FC Zürich in that competition's Round of 32 on 14 and 21 February.
