Spyropoulos joins Panathinaikos

UEFA Cup hopefuls Panathinaikos FC have signed Greek international left-back Nikolaos Spyropoulos from Panionios GSS for €2m in a four-and-a-half-year deal.

Panathinaikos FC have signed Greek international left-back Nikolaos Spyropoulos from Panionios GSS for €2m. The 24-year old defender has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with the Athens side.

Spyropoulos started his career with PAS Giannina FC and joined Panionios in the summer of 2004. He has featured 67 times in the Greek Super League for Panionios and played once for Greece, making his debut on 17 November 2007 in a 5-0 win against Malta in a UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifier. Panathinaikos are third in the Greek Super League, two points behind leaders AEK Athens FC. They are away to Rangers FC in the first leg of their UEFA Cup Round of 32 tie on 13 February.
