Surprise qualifiers
Pavan, 32, has put pen to paper on a two-year contract with a Livorno team whose European qualification owes to the Italian sporting-fraud scandal. Livorno finished ninth in Serie A last season but have been pushed up the table following punishments to Juventus, ACF Fiorentina and S.S. Lazio. Pavan, whose previous clubs include Atalanta BC, SSC Venezia and Modena FC, was released by Sampdoria after two years in Genoa which yielded 46 league appearances.
