Dellas has put pen to paper on a two-year deal with the UEFA Cup hopefuls after his contract with previous club AS Roma expired on 30 June. Dellas played for AEK between 1999 and 2001 and was delighted to return. "A few years ago, I said that AEK would be the only team for whom I would consider coming back to Greek football. That is what has happened today," he said.
Road to recovery
The 29-year-old, a hero of Greece's UEFA EURO 2004™ triumph, has recovered from a hernia operation undergone in the spring and has been training with his new team-mates for several weeks in a bid to regain full fitness.
