Vicente missing until March

Valencia CF's Spanish international winger Vicente Rodríguez will be out for at least ten weeks.

Valencia CF winger Vicente Rodríguez has undergone surgery in Belgium to remedy a long-term ankle injury and will spend the next two-and-a-half months on the sidelines.

Niggling injury
The 23-year-old has been unable to shake off the injury he sustained to his left ankle during the UEFA Champions League match against Werder Bremen on 29 September. It was believed that a build-up of scar tissue and calcium deposits in the ankle caused the Spanish international's discomfort.

Keyhole surgery
The inside of Vicente's ankle was assessed by a specialist via keyhole surgery. Dr Marc Martens concluded that no damage had been done to ligaments, cartilage or bones. The player then required open surgery to remove the calcium deposits from the area.

Long lay-off
Doctors estimate that Vicente will be out of action for a minimum of ten weeks, meaning he is unlikely to be available for the team's defence of the UEFA Cup unless they reach the quarter-finals in early April.
