Athletic Club forward Aritz Aduriz has become the first player to score five times in a UEFA Europa League fixture, achieving the feat in the Basque side's 5-3 victory over Genk on Thursday.
Three of the 35-year-old's goals were penalties, including his last of the evening in the 94th minute. Only two men had previously registered four goals in a match in this competition – Radamel Falcao (for Porto v Villarreal, 2010/11 semi-finals) and Edinson Cavani (Napoli v Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk, 2012/13 group stage).

Aduriz, who had not netted in Group F before the visit of the Belgian club, doubled his tally for the season with his historic haul at the Estadio de San Mamés. His five strikes lifted him into joint fourth on the UEFA Europa League's all-time list, level on 17 with former Athletic man Fernando Llorente.
