Who has qualified?
Of the 48 sides that will contest the group stage this autumn, 16 are already known: Villarreal CF, FC Augsburg, FC Schalke 04, Liverpool FC, Tottenham Hotspur FC, ACF Fiorentina, SSC Napoli, SC Braga, Olympique de Marseille, FC Lokomotiv Moskva, FC Groningen, FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk, RSC Anderlecht, Beşiktaş JK, Asteras Tripolis FC, FC Sion.
Of the remaining 32 teams, 22 come from qualifying, which begins at the end of June and culminates in August's play-offs. Then there are ten teams that transfer from the UEFA Champions League after losing that competition's play-offs. The UEFA Europa League access list has not been finalised but you can see where teams from each country enter here.
Where is the final?
In September, Basel's St. Jakob-Park was selected to host the 2016 UEFA Europa League final. It is the first time the competition will conclude in Switzerland, though the old St. Jakob-Park (it was rebuilt for 2001) staged four European Cup Winners' Cup deciders.
