Esbjerg fB have signed former Slovakia Under-21 goalkeeper Martin Dúbravka from MŠK Žilina on a three-and-a-half-year deal.
"We have seen a lot of his games and he looks really interesting," said Esbjerg goalkeeping coach Lars Winde. "He is good with his feet, strong on his line, and has played at the highest level since he was 20, so he can contribute a lot of experience."
Now 25, Dúbravka will challenge Frederik Rønnow for the goalkeeping jersey as the Danish Cup holders seek to arrest an alarming slide when their season resumes next month – with a home game against ACF Fiorentina. Success in reaching the UEFA Europa League round of 32 has contrasted markedly with EfB's Super League struggles – their run of two points from eight matches taking them from second in the table to second-from-bottom.
Dúbravka, who featured for Žilina in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League, represented Slovakia at U19 and U21 levels and has also been called up for senior duty.
