French Cup holders FC Girondins de Bordeaux have announced defender Jérémie Bréchet as their first signing of the summer.

The 33-year-old former Olympique Lyonnais, FC Internazionale Milano, Real Sociedad de Fútbol, FC Sochaux-Montbéliard and PSV Eindhoven player has arrived on a 12-month contract from relegated ES Troyes AC.

"Jérémie's talent will be available for Francis Gillot," said a club statement. Bréchet, capped three times by France between June 2001 and November 2002, worked with Bordeaux coach Gillot during his two spells at Sochaux.

Bordeaux will begin their UEFA Europa League campaign in the group stage.
