Celtic FC have completed the signing of Victor Wanyama on a four-year deal after securing a work permit for the Kenyan international midfielder.
The 20-year-old joins from Belgian outfit KFC Germinal Beerschot as Neil Lennon's side, currently on a pre-season tour of Australia, boost their ranks ahead of the UEFA Europa League play-offs next month. "I am delighted to sign for Celtic Football Club," said Wanyama. "With the formalities now out of the way, I can look forward to meeting up with my new team-mates and manager on their return from Australia."
Wanyama also indicated he will wear the No67 shirt next season, in honour of the Celtic side that claimed the European Champions' Club Cup by defeating FC Internazionale Milano in Lisbon in 1967. "After reading the club's incredible history, I have chosen 67 as my squad number to show appreciation to the 1967 squad," he said. "My ambition at Celtic is to win many trophies like the Lisbon Lions."
