Sporting Clube de Portugal have added their ninth and tenth recruits of the summer to an ever-evolving squad, signing Luis Aguiar and Diego Rubio on four and five-year deals respectively.
Midfielder Aguiar, 25, arrives at the Estádio José Alvalade for an undisclosed fee from FC Dinamo Moskva, though he had been on loan at CA Peñarol in his home country Uruguay since January. The details surrounding 18-year-old Chile striker Rubio's transfer from CSD Colo Colo have not been revealed either.
Aguiar is well known to new Sporting coach Domingos Paciência, as well as to Portuguese audiences, having played 54 Liga games for SC Braga during Paciência's tenure at the northern club. He has also turned out for Estrela da Amadora and A. Académica de Coimbra.
"I'm very motivated by this new challenge," said the attack-minded player. "I feel good physically and am ready to start a new season. I want to help improve on last year and win trophies."
Teenage forward Rubio, meanwhile, lands in Lisbon within a week of making his international debut for Chile against Paraguay. "I am living a dream," he said. "I'm a raw player, very young and I have to progress."
Sporting finished third in last season's Portuguese top flight, 36 points behind champions FC Porto, and will enter the play-offs for the 2011/12 UEFA Europa League.
