UEFA Europa league hopefuls PFC CSKA Sofia have signed the Romanian international Ianis Zicu on a three-year deal from FC Timişoara.
The 27-year-old forward, who joined Timişoara last summer after a three-year spell at FC Dinamo Bucureşti, enjoyed a prolific campaign last season, scoring 18 league goals in 30 appearances, and is now eager to further his career at the capital club. "CSKA is the best Bulgarian side and I have come here to win trophies," he said. "I am delighted to have signed for CSKA."
Zicu, who also spent two seasons in Italy with FC Internazionale Milano and Parma FC early in his career and has scored once in 12 appearances for Romania, becomes CSKA's seventh close-season capture. The Bulgarian Cup winners have also added PFC Pirin Blagoevgrad trio Alexander Yakimov, Anton Karachanakov and Alexander Dyulgerov to their number and invested in the 20-year-old Slovenian midfielder Aleksander Živec from NK Primorje, Brazilian defender Ademar Junior from PFC Cherno More Varna and Junior Morais from Ukrainian side FC Metalurh Donetsk.
CSKA finished third in the Bulgarian A League last season and will play in the UEFA Europa League, starting at the play-off stage.
