Long-serving Real Madrid CF midfielder Guti has agreed a two-year contract with Turkish side Beşiktaş JK after negotiating his release from the Spanish club.
Beşiktaş, who are managed by former Real Madrid player and coach Bernd Schuster, have brought in Guti within 24 hours of his departure from the Santiago Bernabéu. Signed by Madrid as a ten-year-old in 1986. Beşiktaş's new No14 scored 46 goals in 387 Liga games for the Merengues, claiming five Spanish titles and featuring in three UEFA Champions League-winning sides.
Playmaker Guti also registered three goals in 13 appearances for Spain between May 1999 and February 2005. Istanbul-based Beşiktaş take on Czech outfit FC Viktoria Plzeň in the opening leg of their UEFA Europa League third qualifying round tie on Thursday, with the return match scheduled for 5 August.
