Brugge bring Blondel home

Belgian international Jonathan Blondel has returned home to join Club Brugge KV on a four-and-a-half year contract.

Cup final goal
Blondel first emerged at R. Excelsior Mouscron, where he broke into the senior team during the 2001/02 season. He scored Mouscron's goal in the 3-1 Belgian Cup final defeat by Brugge in 2002 and that summer made his international debut in a 1-1 friendly draw against Poland.

Few chances
The midfield player joined Tottenham ahead of the 2002/03 campaign but has had few chances of first-team football at White Hart Lane and as a consequence, his international prospects have suffered.

'No future for me'
"At Tottenham there was no future for me and Brugge are a top team. I only wanted to return to Belgium if it was a big club," said Blondel, who will be eligible for next month's UEFA Cup third-round tie against Debreceni VSC, if registered.
