Sevilla without unlucky No13

Sevilla FC will be without goalkeeper Antonio Notario as they look to overturn a 1-0 away defeat in their UEFA Cup last-16 tie against LOSC Lille Métropole.

Sevilla FC will be without first-choice goalkeeper Antonio Notario as they look to overturn a 1-0 away defeat in their UEFA Cup last-16 tie against LOSC Lille Métropole.

Goalkeeper stricken
The No13, whose misjudgement allowed Lille's Geoffrey Dernis to score directly from a corner in the first leg, broke a bone in his foot during the match and will be sidelined for the return along with midfielder Vincenzo Maresca, who is recovering from an achilles injury.

Dangerous result
Coach Juande Ramos, who also has defender Antonio Puerta suspended, was not confident as he looked ahead, saying: "One-nil was a bad result, but it is a narrow margin so it gives us a chance, although if our opponents score once we have to score three to win. If we play like we did in the first leg, creating all those chances, I'm sure we will score."

Lille weary
With his team having played 42 games already this season, tiredness is the enemy for Lille coach Claude Puel. Midfielder Hicham Aboucherouane and playmaker Milenko Ačimovič are out of contention, but Puel has defender Efstathios Tavlaridis back from a ban and striker Peter Odemwingie (thigh) and vice-captain Grégory Tafforeau (groin) also available.

Attacking intent
Indeed, the coach rested players for the weekend Ligue 1 draw at FC Nantes Atlantique to ensure they will be fresh to face Sevilla. "The UEFA Cup is an important competition for us." Tafforeau, meanwhile, promised a positive approach: "If we try and keep it tight, it will be a long night for us and they'll have plenty of time to equalise. The solution is to try and score."
