Livid Lokomotiv ready to hit back

Brøndby IF may face a backlash from FC Lokomotiv Moskva on Wednesday after the Russian side's misery at missing out on the UEFA Champions League.

Vent frustration
"This season is ruined - we did not qualify for the Champions League, third place is not a result for Lokomotiv," said midfield player Dmitri Khokhlov. With the Russian domestic season over, injury-hit Lokomotiv can focus on the UEFA Cup, and they will look to vent their frustration on Brøndby.

Depleted midfield
Coach Vladimir Eshtrekov has just four established midfielders available. Khokhlov is suspended while Vladimir Maminov (knee), Marat Izmailov (ankle), Francisco Lima (personal reasons) and defender Vadim Evseev (foot) all miss out.

'We have to win'
Lokomotiv need a win after collecting a single point from their opening two games. "The Russian league is already over, and we don't want to remember it anymore. Our goal is two wins in the two remaining UEFA Cup games and qualification from the group", said Eshtrekov. "Brøndby are second in Denmark, and are a good, balanced team. We respect them but we still have to win the match."

Skoubo concern
The Danish club have injury worries of their own with defenders Daniel Agger and Thomas Rytter still sidelined, and Trond Andersen also doubtful. Danish international striker Morten Skoubo scored on his return from a groin strain at the weekend but was taken off at half-time after suffering a recurrence of the injury.

'We have the advantage'
"I do not think Andersen will be able to play, while there is still hope for Skoubo," said coach Michael Laudrup. "Nobody should be fooled by the fact that Lokomotiv have only got one point. However, we have the advantage of not having to entertain over there - and a win in Moscow will virtually guarantee us a place in the next round."
