Belgium look to secure Kazakstan double

Belgium have yet to lose against Group A visitors Kazakhstan but they will know better than to expect an easy ride when the nations meet for a fourth time.

• Belgium can still deny Turkey second place in the section, but must beat Kazakhstan and hope that Guus Hiddink's side lose against section winners Germany if they are to go into their final fixture, in Germany on 11 October, with the initiative.

• The sides' first Group A meeting came on 8 October last year at a time both were looking to recover from back-to-back defeats. It was Belgium who got the restorative result required in Astana, with debutant Marvin Ogunjimi coming off the bench and scoring after 52 and 70 minutes – either side of Aleksandr Kislitsyn's dismissal – to secure a 2-0 win.

• Belgium's record in three games against Kazakhstan reads W1 D2 L0 (W0 D1 L0 at home).

• Having become a member of UEFA too late to enter qualifying for UEFA EURO 2004, Kazakhstan made their maiden appearance in the UEFA European Championship in Brussels on 16 August 2006, earning a creditable 0-0 draw with Belgium.

• The return fixture also gave Kazakhstan reason to celebrate as they came back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2. Goals from Karel Geraerts and Kevin Mirallas gave Belgium a commanding early lead, but Dmitriy Byakov pulled one back before the break and Samat Smakov then hit a 77th-minute leveller.
