Fancy seeing the Eiffel Tower lit up in the colours of your team at UEFA EURO 2016? Thanks to tournament sponsors Orange and the City of Paris, the iconic monument will be playing a full role in the finals – with supporters having the chance to take part in a spectacular lightshow ten minutes after the last match every day.
While 24 teams vie for glory on the field, fans will be going head to head on social media to decide which side's colours illuminate the Eiffel Tower. Anyone in the world can participate via Twitter, Facebook or Instagram: to vote, fans must use the hashtag of their favourite team playing that day (for example, #FRA for France or #ENG for England) before 21:30CET each matchday.
The nation that receives the most hashtag support will have their colours displayed on the world-famous landmark, while a selection of the best fan messages will also be broadcast on the Eiffel Tower. All the time, Orange will be measuring social buzz and showing the results on a real-time barometer.
The spotlight will fall on supporters during every game of the tournament as well, with the most creative and colourful in the running for the Fan of the Match award. The winner will be called out by UEFA at half-time and their picture projected onto the big screens around the stadium, before they are invited onto the pitch to receive an official Fan of the Match trophy presented by Orange and UEFA after the final whistle.
