The final tournament of the 2016 UEFA European Championship will take place from 10 June to 10 July in ten French cities.
One thousand days prior to the kick-off, the foundations of the event are solid: the organisational structure put in place by UEFA and the French Football Federation (FFF) – EURO 2016 S.A.S. – has been carefully planning the numerous projects linked to the organisation of the championship, in close collaboration with the host cities, local and national authorities, and the stadium owners, to name but a few of the various entities involved in the delivery of this rendezvous of European football.
Speaking on the occasion of this symbolic date, UEFA President Michel Platini said: "We are satisfied with the progress of the preparations and even though there is still a lot to be done, we see the development of the stadiums in a positive light.
"I am sure that the project will be a true success and I am convinced that we are on the right track to organise a beautiful, popular festival of European football in France in the summer of 2016.
"I want to thank the teams of Jacques Lambert, the president of EURO 2016 S.A.S., and Martin Kallen, UEFA Operations Director, who work tirelessly for the realisation of this celebration of worldwide resonance."
