VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach will conclude their UEFA Champions League campaign for the season with a visit to group winners FC Barcelona on matchday six.

• Both teams' positions in Group C were set in stone on matchday five when Barcelona secured first place and qualification with a 2-0 win at Celtic FC. As for André Schubert's Gladbach they made sure of third position, and entry into the UEFA Europa League round of 32, thanks to a 1-1 home draw with Manchester City FC.

• Barcelona overturned a half-time deficit to win 2-1 in Monchengladbach on matchday two, Gerard Piqué scoring the winning goal after 74 minutes.

Match background

Barcelona
• The Spanish title holders have qualified for the round of 16 for the 13th successive season. For the tenth season running they have won their section, extending their own UEFA Champions League record.

• Luis Enrique's side are seeking a 14th straight home victory in the UEFA Champions League. Overall they are unbeaten in 18 matches at home in the competition, a run that started in September 2013 (W17 D1).

• Barcelona have an 11-0 aggregate scoreline from their first two home fixtures in Group C, against Celtic (7-0) and Manchester City (4-0).

• Barcelona have won 12 of their last 13 home matches against Bundesliga opposition; the solitary exception was their 3-0 loss to FC Bayern München in the 2012/13 UEFA Champions League semi-finals, their last home loss in the competition.

• The Spanish side's overall home record against German teams is W20 D1 L6.

Mönchengladbach
• Gladbach's 2-0 success at Celtic in their last away fixture was the club's first victory on the road in the European Cup/UEFA Champions League proper, excluding qualifying, since a 3-0 triumph at FK Crvena zvezda on 19 October 1977.

• The Bundesliga team lost 3-0 at Sevilla FC in their opening fixture of the 2015/16 UEFA Champions League group stage.

• Their overall record in Spain reads W1 D2 L4. That solitary victory came on their first visit, when they beat Real Zaragoza 4-2 through goals from Allan Simonsen, Jupp Heynckes (two) and Uli Stielike in the 1974/75 UEFA Cup third round.

• This is Gladbach's first visit to the Camp Nou but they have played in Barcelona before, losing 4-1 at RCD Espanyol in the 1987/88 UEFA Cup first round.

Coach and player links
• Luis Enrique played for Spain against Germany in a 1-1 draw at the 1994 FIFA World Cup. As a Barcelona player he struck in a 2-0 home win over Borussia Dortmund in the two-legged 1997 UEFA Super Cup (aggregate 3-1).

• Luis Enrique found the net again in a 1-1 draw at Hertha BSC Berlin in the 1999/2000 UEFA Champions League second group stage, and in both matches when Barcelona traded 2-1 home wins with Leverkusen in the 2001/02 first group stage.

• Marc-André ter Stegen was born in Monchengladbach and made 108 Bundesliga appearances for Borussia's first team between 2011 and 2014.

• Paco Alcácer struck a hat-trick past Yann Sommer in Valencia CF's 5-0 victory over the Swiss goalkeeper's FC Basel 1893 side in the 2013/14 UEFA Europa League quarter-finals – a result that overturned a 3-0 first-leg deficit. Jérémy Mathieu was also in that Valencia side.

• Ivan Rakitić was in the Basel senior squad between 2005 and 2007 but never played a first-team game with Sommer, who had yet to step up from the reserves.

Chapecoense commemoration
Teams taking part in all of the matchday six UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League matches will observe a minute's silence to pay respect to the victims of last week's air disaster involving the Chapecoense team and accompanying delegation. The Brazilian club lost most of their players and coaching staff in the accident, which occurred in Colombia, where Chapecoense were due to play the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana final against Atlético Nacional.

"European football is united in expressing its deepest sympathy to Chapecoense, the Brazilian Football Confederation [CBF], CONMEBOL and the families of all the victims," said UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin. "This tragedy has shaken the world of football, and we would like to send our support to all of those affected by it."
