Dortmund turn sights to cementing top spot against Legia

With qualification already assured, Borussia Dortmund will look to tie up first place in Group F when they host Legia Warszawa on matchday five.

• Dortmund hold a two-point advantage over Real Madrid CF at the top of the standings and with a victory would secure first place provided Madrid fail to win at Sporting CP in the section's other fixture.

• Legia will be consigned to bottom place in the group if they fail to defeat Dortmund and Sporting are victorious against Madrid.

Previous meetings
• Prior to this season the clubs had met only in a friendly in Warsaw on 29 July 2012, which Dortmund won 1-0 through a fourth-minute Robert Lewandowski goal.

• Thomas Tuchel's team inflicted a 6-0 defeat on Legia when the clubs met in Warsaw on matchday one – their opponents' heaviest European loss.

• Since the beginning of last season Dortmund have lost just one of ten home games (W7 D2) in UEFA competition, including a 1-0 win against Sporting last time out.

• Dortmund's only previous home meeting with a Polish club came during their triumphant 1996/97 UEFA Champions League campaign when they beat RTS Widzew Łódź 2-1 in the group stage through two Heiko Herrlich goals.

Legia
• Besnik Hasi was the coach in charge of Legia for their 6-0 defeat by Dortmund on 14 September. Hasi lost his job five days later and by 24 September, Jacek Magiera had taken the reins in his place.

• The Polish title holders earned their first point in Group F when drawing 3-3 at home against Real Madrid on matchday four.

• Legia are still seeking a first victory in the UEFA Champions League since their last appearance in the group stage in 1995/96. That last win was against Blackburn Rovers FC (1-0) on 18 October 1995.

• Although Legia were unbeaten away from home in the qualifying rounds this season, in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League proper, they are on a seven-match losing streak on their travels.

Coach and player links
• Visiting coach Magiera was a substitute when Legia last visited Germany for a 0-0 draw at FC Schalke 04 in the 2002/03 UEFA Cup second round. He had previously appeared as an 87th-minute substitute in Legia's 3-2 first-leg defeat.

• Łukasz Piszczek won the Polish league title with Zagłębie Lubin in 2006/07 thanks to a 2-1 last-day win at Legia. He faced Legia four times overall with Zagłębie (W2 L2).
