CSKA Moskva awaits Spurs side looking to bounce back

Tottenham Hotspur will look to recover from their false start in Group E when they visit a CSKA Moskva side with more cause for optimism after matchday one.

Tottenham Hotspur FC visit Moscow for the first time, CSKA Moskva the opponents as the London club seek their first points in Group E.

• If Spurs made a false start on matchday one when losing 2-1 at home to AS Monaco FC, CSKA began in promising fashion as they came from two goals behind to draw 2-2 at Bayer 04 Leverkusen through goals by Alan Dzagoev and Roman Eremenko.

• On 21 September, a second-string CSKA side succumbed 2-1 at FC Yenisey Krasnoyarsk in the last 32 of the Russian Cup. Defender Nikita Chernov, on loan from CSKA, opened the scoring against his parent club. Georgi Milanov equalised for the Army Men.

• That ended CSKA's eight-match unbeaten run in all competitions, although Slutski's team are still 16 games without defeat in the Premier-Liga, a sequence dating back to 3 April. On Saturday they drew 1-1 at home with FC Krasnodar. 

• Cauņa is still recovering from the ankle operation he had in July.

Tottenham
• Son Heung-Min's second double in as many away matches earned Tottenham a 2-1 victory at Middlesbrough FC on Saturday.

• Son has equalled his tally of four league goals from last season, achieved in 28 appearances (13 starts).

• Kane scored the winner against Sunderland AFC on 18 September but later sustained a right ankle injury and is expected to be sidelined for around two months.

• Three days later, Pochettino made 11 changes for the visit of Gillingham FC in the English League Cup third round, Joshua Onomah and Vincent Janssen scoring their first Spurs goals in a 5-0 success.

• Georges-Kévin N'Koudou and academy product Cameron Carter-Vickers made their Tottenham debuts against a Gillingham side managed by former Spurs defender Justin Edinburgh.
