Bottom of Group E, Manchester City FC need a positive result against FC Bayern München to revive their fading UEFA Champions League ambitions.
• Bayern are already assured of first place in the group. City will be eliminated if they lose while a draw will keep their hopes alive only if there is also a draw between PFC CSKA Mosvka and AS Roma in the group's other game.
• Only two teams have taken two points or fewer from their opening four group games and still managed to progress from this stage of the UEFA Champions League: FC Lokomotiv Moskva (2002/03, 1 point) and FC Porto (2004/05, 2 points).
Previous meetings
• Bayern won 3-1 at City on 2 October last year. Manuel Pellegrini's men came from two goals down in the return in Munich to prevail 3-2, ending Bayern's UEFA Champions League record run of ten successive wins in the process.
• The lineups for last season's Manchester encounter were:
Man City: Hart, Richards, Kompany, Nastasić, Clichy, Navas, Touré, Fernandinho, Nasri (Milner 70), Agüero (Silva 70), Džeko (Negredo 57).
Bayern: Neuer, Rafinha, Boateng, Dante, Alaba, Lahm, Robben (Shaqiri 78), Schweinsteiger (Kirchhoff 76), Kroos, Ribéry (Götze 82), Müller.
• City faced Bayern in the group stage of their debut UEFA Champions League campaign in 2011/12, losing 2-0 in Munich but winning by the same scoreline at home. Bayern won the group, with City third.
