It is deja vu for PFC CSKA Moskva and Manchester City FC as, for the second campaign running, they meet in Khimki on matchday three.

• Like CSKA, City are seeking their first win in Group E after losing at FC Bayern München (0-1) and drawing with AS Roma (1-1).

• As Villarreal CF coach in 2007/08, Manuel Pellegrini suffered an away-goals defeat by FC Zenit in the UEFA Cup round of 32 (0-1 a, 2-1 h). He also oversaw Málaga CF's 3-0 home win against the Russian club in September 2012, and a 2-2 away draw two months later.

• Before scoring twice in both encounters with CSKA last season, Agüero had hit a double in Club Atlético de Madrid's 3-3 draw at FC Lokomotiv Moskva in the 2007/08 UEFA Cup group stage. He also scored in Moscow when Argentina won 3-2 there in August 2009.

• Agüero scored four times, twice from the spot, and also had another penalty stopped by Hugo Lloris as City defeated Tottenham Hotspur FC 4-1 at home on Saturday.

• Joe Hart saved a spot kick from Roberto Soldado with the score 2-1. The match, in which Spurs defender Federico Fazio saw red, was the second in Premier League history to feature four penalties.

• With his second goal, his 59th in the top flight for the Citizens, Agüero overtook Carlos Tévez as City's leading Premier League marksman. Agüero has scored in each of his last four appearances for the English champions.

• Lampard, who gave the assist for Agüero's opener, was carried off with a left leg injury after 28 minutes.
