Previous meetings
• The sides met in the 1990/91 UEFA Cup third round when Anderlecht progressed on away goals, winning 1-0 at home and losing 2-1 away.
• The lineups at Constant Vanden Stock Stadium on 28 November 1990, when Anderlecht's Marc Venderlinden struck the only goal, were:
Anderlecht: De Wilde, Van Tiggelen, Kooiman, Rutjes, De Wolf, Musonda, Van Baekel (Crasson 73), Oliveira, Degryse, Nilis, Verheyen (Vanderlinden 39).
Dortmund: De Beer, Gorlukovich, Kutowski, Quallo, Helmer, Poschner, Lusch (Wegmann 77), Zorc, Povlsen, Rummenigge, Mill (Strerath 20).
• In the return Alain Van Baekel increased the Belgian side's advantage before BVB replied through Sergei Gorlukovich and Michael Schulz.
Match background
Anderlecht
• The Belgian champions won their last Brussels encounter with German opponents, 4-3 against Hamburger SV in the 2009/10 UEFA Cup round of 16, but went out 6-5 on aggregate. They failed to win any of their previous six, drawing two and losing four.
• Prior to a 2-1 second-leg win at FC Bayern München in the 2007/08 UEFA Cup round of 16 – they lost 6-2 on aggregate – Anderlecht had not won in ten games against Bundesliga opposition.
• They have lost five UEFA Champions League group stage encounters with German sides, managing just a solitary draw, 1-1 against Bayern in 2003/04. Overall their record against German teams is W12 D3 L16.
• Anderlecht are in the group stage for a third successive year – the first time in eight years that they have achieved that feat – and the 11th time in all.
• Last year they finished fourth in their group with just a single point, drawing away against Paris Saint-Germain. They lost all three home games, conceding 11 goals and scoring just twice.
• The Belgian champions have finished bottom of the group in all seven group stage campaigns since they reached the last 16 (qualifying for the second group stage) in 2000/01.
• In those six seasons Anderlecht have won just four fixtures and when they beat FC Zenit 1-0 on matchday four in 2012/13 it was their first home success in the UEFA Champions League proper in ten years.
Dortmund
• BVB won on their last visit to Belgium, 1-0 at KRC Genk in the 2004 UEFA Intertoto Cup third round, losing 2-1 at home. Their only other Belgian assignments were both against Club Brugge KV, losing 5-0 away for a 5-3 aggregate defeat in the 1987/88 UEFA Cup third round.
• In the 2003/04 UEFA Champions League third qualifying round Dortmund and Club Brugge won their home legs 2-1, Dortmund losing 4-2 on penalties.
• Winners in 1996/97 and runners-up two seasons ago, Dortmund are in their tenth group stage campaign.
• Last season they reached the quarter-finals, a 2-0 second-leg home win over Real Madrid CF not enough to overturn a 3-0 defeat away.
• Dortmund lost at SSC Napoli but then won at Arsenal FC and Olympique de Marseille and continued their winning ways at Zenit in the round of 16.
• They have lost just one of their last six away games in the group stage, winning three.
Coach and player links
• Aleksandar Mitrović is a Serbia team-mate of Miloš Jojić and Neven Subotić.
• Mitrović and Jojić played together for FK Partizan youths and FK Zemun.

• Dortmund followed up their matchday one win with a 2-0 loss at 1. FSV Mainz 05 on 20 September. Ciro Immobile had a 70th-minute penalty saved and Matthias Ginter scored an own goal.
• Henrikh Mkhitaryan sustained a foot injury against Mainz, ruling him out for around a month.
• Goals from Aubameyang and Immobile, his first in the Bundesliga, helped Dortmund recover from two down to draw 2-2 at home against VfB Stuttgart on 24 September.
• Against Stuttgart, substitute Mats Hummels made his first appearance since the FIFA World Cup final after recovering from muscular problems.
• The Stuttgart game was Jürgen Klopp's 209th in the Bundesliga as Dortmund coach, one more than Ottmar Hitzfeld oversaw during his Schwarzgelben tenure to make him the club's longest-serving coach.
• İlkay Gündoğan (out since August 2013, back) has resumed light training. Oliver Kirch has not played since sustaining a thigh injury on 19 August, while Sebastian Kehl has not featured since matchday one due to a foot injury.
• Jakub Błaszczykowski had also returned to training following a knee injury that has kept him out since January but suffered a thigh strain in September and was signed off for another four to six weeks.
