LOSC aim to halt Valencia's winning run

Valencia CF will not lack confidence as they play host to LOSC Lille on matchday two: they have won all seven previous home games against visitors from France.

• Both teams have to bounce back from defeats on the opening night of Group F, Valencia going down 2-1 at FC Bayern München while LOSC were beaten 3-1 by FC BATE Borisov, their heaviest home European defeat.

Previous meetings
• The clubs met in the 2009/10 UEFA Europa League group stage, Valencia winning 3-1 at home. Joaquín scored twice in the first half, and Juan Mata added a third before Aurélien Chedjou pulled one back in added time. The first game in France had ended 1-1 with two late goals, both from substitutes. Mata put the visitors ahead before Gervinho equalised with four minutes remaining.

• The win maintained Valencia's 100% home record against Ligue 1 opponents. Seven games have brought seven wins with 18 goals scored and three conceded. They have also gone 15 games, home and away, unbeaten against French sides since their first meeting, the opening leg of the 1979/80 European Cup Winners' Cup semi-final when FC Nantes beat them 2-1 in France.

• Valencia won the return 4-0 to progress to the final where they beat Arsenal FC 5-4 on penalties after a goalless draw to win the trophy.

• The 2009 meeting was LOSC's last visit to Spain. They have yet to win in the country and have lost on their last three visits, recording a 1-1 draw in their first outing at RC Deportivo La Coruña in the 2001/02 UEFA Champions League first group stage. 

Match background
• Valencia, who finished third in last season's Liga, opened their 2011/12 UEFA Champions League home campaign with a 1-1 draw against Chelsea FC and won their other two group fixtures at Mestalla – 3-1 against Bayer 04 Leverkusen and 7-0 against KRC Genk, the Blanquinegros' biggest victory in UEFA competition. They are unbeaten in six home games (W4 D2) in the competition since a 1-0 loss against Manchester United FC on 29 September 2010.

• LOSC finished third in Ligue 1 last season and overcame FC København in the play-offs to reach the group stage. Having lost 1-0 in Denmark, Lucas Digne levelled the aggregate score in the first European match at their new home, Grand Stade Lille Métropole, before an extra-time header from Túlio De Melo took the French side through.

• LOSC drew 1-1 at Trabzonspor AŞ in their first away game last season and followed that with a 2-1 defeat at FC Internazionale Milano before a 2-0 win at PFC CSKA Moskva.

Team ties
• Adil Rami was at LOSC from 2006/07 to 2010/11 and a key player in their historic double in his last season there before joining Valencia. He scored seven goals in 129 top-flight appearances.

• Aly Cissokho (Olympique Lyonnais), Jérémy Mathieu (FC Sochaux-Montbéliard, Toulouse FC), Tino Costa (Montpellier Hérault SC) and Sofiane Feghouli (Grenoble Foot 38) have all played in France.

• Cissokho, Mathieu, Rami, Mickaël Landreau, Mathieu Debuchy, Marvin Martin, Rio Mavuba, Dimitri Payet and Benoît Pedretti are all French internationals.

• Mauricio Pellegrino was Rafael Benítez's assistant at Liverpool FC when the Reds defeated LOSC 3-1 on aggregate in the 2009/10 UEFA Europa League round of 16.

• Ricardo Costa spent four months on loan at Les Dogues from VfL Wolfsburg in 2010, scoring one goal in ten Ligue 1 appearances.

• Mavuba spent the first half of 2007/08 at Villarreal CF, making the last of his five Liga appearances in a 3-0 home win against Valencia before moving to LOSC, initially on loan.

• During his six seasons at Chelsea FC Salomon Kalou was never on the losing side in five UEFA Champions League appearances against Valencia.
