Sporting Clube de Portugal midfielder Marat Izmailov will miss his team's UEFA Champions League qualifying matches after being ruled out for ten weeks with tendinitis in his right knee.

Surgery
The 26-year-old Russian international has suffered with knee trouble for some time, prompting the decision by Sporting's medical staff that he should undergo surgery. The operation will keep the former FC Lokomotiv Moskva player out of the Lisbon side's third qualifying round encounter on 28/29 July and 4/5 August – Sporting discover the identity of their opposition on Friday – as well as any UEFA Champions League play-off later next month should they progress. The Portuguese Liga season kicks off on 16 August.
