Réveillère reunited with Le Guen

Anthony Réveillère has returned to France from Valencia CF to join Olympique Lyonnais.

Defender Anthony Réveillère has returned to France from Valencia CF in a €4.8m move to Olympique Lyonnais.

Unused option
The 23-year-old joins French champions Lyon on a five-year contract after Valencia decided not to take up their option to buy him. Réveillère moved to the Mestalla on loan from Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais FC last January, playing 18 games for the club - including six in the UEFA Champions League - and scoring twice.

'I am happy'
"Valencia did not retain me but I am happy because Lyon are in the Champions League and Valencia are not," said Réveillère, whose move to Lyon will reunite him with coach Paul Le Guen, who was in charge at Rennes between 1998 and 2001.

'An experienced player'
He is the club's second signing in the space of two days following Mickaël Essien's arrival from SC Bastia. "He's already an experienced player and will play on either the left or right side of the defence," said Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas.
