A shirt bearing the name Rosický will be back at AC Sparta Praha next season after the Czech champions signed Jiří Rosický, elder brother of BV Borussia Dortmund playmaker Tomáš.
One-year deal
The 25-year-old midfield player today signed a one-year deal at the Letná stadium after leaving the club seven years ago as a trainee for Club Atlético de Madrid. After spending two seasons in the Spanish club's reserve side a serious knee injury prevented him from making the step up to the first team and sidelined him for two years.
'Glad to be back'
Rosický joined Schwarz-Weiss Bregenz in 2000, remaining at the Austrian club until the recent expiry of his contract. "Sparta are the club of my heart so I am glad to be back," he said. Rosický is yet to play a game in the Czech top flight, a league which his younger brother Tomáš lit up prior to leaving Sparta for Dortmund in January 2001 for €13.3m.
Another signing
The 23-year-old midfield player Pavel Krmas also joined the club today, signing a four-year contract. He scored six goals in the 2002/03 season for SK Hradec Králové but could not prevent the club being relegated. Krmas played in Sparta's youth team during a loan spell a season ago while also studying physical education in Prague.
Champions League
Last week the club signed Karlsruher SC midfield player Patrik Jezek and SK Sigma Olomouc defender Radoslav Kovác in preparation for their attempt to negotiate the third and final UEFA Champions League qualifying round.
