Well-travelled former SC Braga striker Zé Carlos is the latest new arrival at Cypriot UEFA Champions League hopefuls APOEL FC, signing a two-year conract.
Recent experience
The 32-year-old Brazilian is the latest star to link up with the Cypriot champions as they prepare for their first qualifying round tie against FC BATE Borisov of Belarus, the first leg of which takes place in Nicosia next Tuesday. He has recent experience of European action having scored the only goal of Braga's 1-0 win against Parma FC in last season's UEFA Cup Round of 32.
Brazilian wanderer
Having started his career in his homeland with CR Botafogo, Zé Carlos briefly moved to Europe to join Turkish side Malatyaspor in 2001/02 before returning to Brazil to join EC Juventude. He moved abroad again in 2004 for a season with Korean Republic side Pohang Steelers but returned to Juventude for the following campaign before joining CS Marítimo, moving on to Braga last season.
Players depart
APOEL have also revealed they have parted company with Polish forward Marcin Chmiest and Portuguese midfielder Paulo Costa. Both players were announced as new signings by the club in recent weeks but have now been released.
