Impressive form
The 22-year-old has agreed a three-year contract in the Greek capital. Babangida earned his move after impressing for Olympiacos in a pre-season tournament in Spain. He scored three goals altogether in a 3-1 win against Valencia CF and 4-2 defeat by Udinese Calcio.
'Star players'
"I am very happy to sign for Olympiacos," said Babangida. "They are a great team with star players like Rivaldo. They participate each year in the UEFA Champions League and I am looking forward to playing in Europe's top competition. I believe Olympiacos's passing game suits me to perfection."
European eligibility
Babangida did not play for Metalurh in their 3-0 victory at FC Sopron in the first leg of their UEFA Cup second qualifying round tie on 11 August and can therefore represent Olympiacos in the Champions League. The Greek title-holders enter the competition in next month's group stage.
