Fortress Camp Nou: Barcelona eye Bayern's record

Bayern München's record run of 16 UEFA Champions League home wins came to a halt last week and we may not have to wait long for someone to match it: enter Barcelona.

Bayern München's 2-1 loss to Real Madrid last Wednesday not only left their UEFA Champions League hopes in jeopardy, it also halted their record run of consecutive home wins in the competition at 16. That mark could be matched this week by Barcelona.

A pair of 1-0 home victories on 17 September 2014 for Bayern and Barcelona did not look particularly noteworthy at the time, but 31 months later the date carries some significance – it was the start of winning streaks for both clubs.

Bayern's run has now ended but Barcelona, who welcome Juventus on Wednesday with a 3-0 deficit, will equal their feat if they win at the Camp Nou.
