Cristiano Ronaldo has chalked up another record, his penalty conversion against Sevilla today meaning the Real Madrid man is now level with Hugo Sánchez as the most prolific spot-kick scorer in Spanish Liga history.
The Portuguese international has converted 56 of the 65 penalties he has taken in the league since joining Madrid in 2009, with 71to his name in all competitions for the club. UEFA.com meets the Liga's top ten from 11 metres.

The Mexican striker holds the rare honour of scoring each of his 38 goals in the 1989/90 season with just one touch. It should be no surprise, then, that he had plenty of confidence from the spot.

Signed for Real Madrid as a teenger, the striker shone brightest at Espanyol from 1974–83, and is still the club's top scorer in all competitions. He managed 116 Liga goals, 34 of them penalties.

Spain's 59-goal all-time top scorer hit penalties for Sporting Gijón, Real Zaragoza, Valencia and Atlético Madrid but curiously did not get a Liga penalty in three seasons with Barcelona.

The midfielder divided his career between Athletic (1988–96) and Zaragoza (1996–2002) and is the only player in the list to have never played international football. Over half of his 50 Liga goals came from the spot.
